FAQs About Home Care in London

Straight answers to the questions families most often ask about home care, live-in care, respite, supported living, carers, costs, and how to get started.

Starting the Conversation

Deciding to arrange home care for a loved one can feel overwhelming, especially if it is the first time. We try to make the process as straightforward as possible. The first step is usually a conversation — either by phone or at a free assessment visit — where we can listen to what you need and explain what we can offer. There is no obligation and no pressure.

General questions

What services do you provide?

We provide a comprehensive range of person-centred services including visiting home care, full-time live-in care, specialized supported living for complex needs, short-term respite care, dignified personal care, warm companionship, assistance with community access, shopping visits, and dedicated SEN childcare support. Each service is uniquely tailored to the individual's routine and lifestyle.

How do you check carers?

Safety and trust are our highest priorities. Our rigorous recruitment process includes comprehensive background checks, enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) verification, and detailed reference checks. Furthermore, all carers undergo extensive initial training and continuous professional development, along with regular supervision and performance reviews to ensure our care remains highly dependable, ethical, and accountable.

How fast can care begin?

In many situations we can arrange support within 24 to 48 hours after the first assessment and agreement on the care plan.

Do you offer culturally sensitive care?

Yes. We work to match family routines, language preferences, faith-sensitive needs, and communication styles where possible.

Do you support council-funded and private care?

Yes. We can explain the differences and help families understand what route is most realistic for their situation.

Home care questions

What does home care include?

Home care includes support with personal care (washing, dressing, grooming), meals and nutrition, medication prompts and management, light housekeeping, mobility and transfers, companionship, and accompanied outings. Every plan is individual.

How often will a carer visit?

That depends on what is needed. Some clients have a single 30-minute morning visit each day. Others have carers visiting two or three times a day, or for longer periods. We build the schedule around the person, not around what is most convenient for us.

Can live-in support be arranged quickly?

Yes. In urgent situations we can discuss immediate or short-notice support depending on availability and assessed need. For planned arrangements, we typically need a week or two to match the right carer.

Can you help families compare care types?

Yes. We can explain the practical trade-offs between home care visits, live-in care, respite care, and supported living. Each option has different cost, continuity, and flexibility implications and we will help you make the right choice for your family.

Do you cover culturally specific needs?

Yes. We have experience supporting South Asian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and other culturally diverse families. We take dietary, religious, language, and family-role considerations seriously in the matching and care planning process.

How is a care plan created?

A care plan is created after a free assessment where we meet the client and family. We document the person's needs, preferences, health information, and routines. This written plan guides the carer and is reviewed regularly as needs change.
